Training in the North West

Training sessions are delivered in-person in the North West of England because HeOvHe is Northern by birth. But you know what, it is a mission that includes every UK wide village, town and city but for now its starting off (to begin with Oct 23) here on home-turf.

If you are located outside of the North West of England, please do email in to,   [email protected], ask for me Cheryl, and we can explore collating a group of bookings near your area. If there is a will, there is a way.

Online training is launching in January 2024. please register your interest at [email protected]

Safe learning experiences for all.

The ethos of HeOvHe is demonstrated in the way training days are delivered. This means you will never be put down, ignored or made to go scared stiff. Neither will there be official tests or token gestures. Paperwork, pressure or pretentious terms are not part of it. The learning style is straightforwardly simple, without lessening or dumbing down your learning capacity.   Infact, its the total opposite, youll feel free and inspired to interpret HeOvHe in a way that is suits you personally.

HeOvHe inserts organic organisational change that goes way beyond policy and politics. HeOvHe informal learning enhances dignity within structures like equality goal-setting or action plans. It is a practical approach that places race EDI principles in a real world setting. HeOvHe knows regulations are vital and can some times lead to justice, however they can also be overwhelmingly complex, buried or unused. HeOvHe is an additional map to find confidence in actively turning up and developing brand new ways of invigorating policies and galvanising all people at the same time. Ultimately, you will form better relationships with yourself and with others and make peace filled change happen. HeOvHe is not just a mission, its a movement.

Why Book?

The courses are aimed at any one who has got a genuine interest in this area through lived experience, or just authentically identifies with this cause.

If you are a text-heavy only learner or challenger-debate led you’d might prefer correctional style race equality courses. HeOvHe asks all those booking on to pledge to put the HeOvHe into practise, in a positive and productive way. HeOvHe is looking for Doers who are flexible enough to fly and try bright ideas, on an old topic…

Hi, I'm the Founder

Cheryl Magowan MA Degree, BA English Degree, Counsellor Adults+ Childrens (Levels 4+5). Plus, 9 Wellbeing Diplomas.

This photo was taken in 2022 after the first pilot training session, delivered to 75 student counsellors, who all pledged to ‘go there’ in their lives…and they did!

Lived experience is; I’ve encountered more racism incidents that I can count, but really each were giant arrows pointing me towards founding HeOvHe. I’ve project managed thousands of successful community race diversity activities across big arts institutions, like the British Film Institute (bfi), Harris Art Gallery, Lancs, national museums liverpool (nml) since 2004. I studied a BA English and MA on black identity + visual culture. I loved learning but also wrangled with how differently I absorbed information. I would often feel left out, not good enough or misunderstood, until I discovered creativity opened up new possibilities in how I could interpret life and vice-versa.

Favourite highlights from race-diversity career: Getting a ‘BAME internship’ at the bfi. Running Local schools project with Dame Floella Benjamin OBE DL.  Winning best Guardian Newspaper  Award, for ‘The Mary Seacole Black Elders Initiative’. Making friends with Martin Luther King III and his wife whilst  praying at his fathers grave (Civil Rights Leader, Dr King II) in Atlanta, USA. I worked for nml at the time. And 11 months later, a dream came true as id got to relaunch my idea for a walk of remembrance with Dr King III in Lpool, 10,000 people all mourned together with meaning, momentum and hope. Alot of my ideas didnt make it but this was one of the ones that did.

Bravest memories: Escaping National Front (NF) thanks to my big brother Jermaine, whose Superpowers ignited as he out sprinted the NF mob who came after us, he was 8 and I was 6. Next, undergoing a Dyslexia test at uni to finally accepting the result, along with the gifs* it brings.  … Launching HeOvHe now – in October 2023, unknowing as to what on earth will happen, but believing in HeOvHes small yet ever so mighty movement – today is a good day.
